Focus and Scope
The International Journal of Public Information Systems aims at publishing studies of public information systems. The journal acknowledges the interdisciplinary nature of such studies. Topics include, but are not restricted to:
- User-centred design, usability, usefulness, citizens perspectives
- Customer relations, different forms of interactions
- Quality and security
- Governance and democracy, political prerequisites
- Decision support systems, risk and decision analysis
- Integration and segregation, cooperation between public administrations/government agencies
- Digital archives
- Multimedia communications
- Provide services to the public (people and companies/organisations)
- Empower citizens and organisations to exercise democratic influence
- Support governments on all levels to perform their tasks in an efficient and reliable way
- Capture, preserve, and make available useful data for analysis, planning, and research
The International Journal of Public Information Systems wants to link researchers and other professionals who share an interest in the process, nature, significance and implications of public information systems design. The journal is a forum for analytical and comparative articles, essays, case-studies, and book reviews on such topics as innovation and research, intellectual property, entrepreneurship, and products. The journal publishes insightful pieces intended for general readers as well as specialists. To illuminate important debates and draw attention to specific topics, the journal occasionally publishes thematic issues.

Peer Review Process
Submitted manuscripts will be assigned to an editor or associate editor who will manage a double-blind peer-review of the manuscript. The editor will make a decision based upon the reviewers’ comments and overall assessment of the manuscript. The policy of IJPIS is that the editor should deliver this decision within three months from the manuscript submission date. Authors retain all copyrights - authors will not be forced to sign any copyright transfer agreements but IJPIS will permit re-use of the published material without modification given proper accreditation to the authors. IJPIS has no article processing charges for authors.
Open Access Policy
This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. Authors will retain their publishing rights without restrictions.
